This is what Allen has to say: "I've decided to fund raise for Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust because they are an independent charity who provide Specialist Palliative Care for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. They always need support in any way, shape, or form - and this is my way of helping them.
The ride I will be doing will be 518 miles long over 7 days with a rest day in the middle. Over those 518 miles will be a height gain of close to 30,000 ft, and will take me clockwise around the Scottish Highlands North Coast 500 (NC500). This is Scotland's version of Route 66. If you hashtag NC500 you will see some of the amazing route!
Any donation will go 100% to Woodlands Hospice (plus 25% extra if you can gift aid it). I will be supported by family at the rest stops at the end of each day, but from the morning when I set off until the evening when I arrive at the next rest stop - I'm all alone! Just as a side note - I've never ridden this far in a week, so it's going to be challenging to say the least...!"
The route plan is as follows;
Day 1) Inverness Castle - Sheildaig) 107 miles and 7000 ft of climbing
Day 2) Sheildaig - Ullapool 92 miles and 6714 ft climbing
Day 3) Ullapool - Rhiconich 80 miles and 7314 ft of climbing
Day 4) Rest Day
Day 5) Rhiconich - Thurso 87 miles and 6284 ft climbing
Day 6) Thurso - Golspie 92 miles and 5172 ft climbing
Day 7) Golspie - Inverness Castle 71 miles and 2819 ft climbing
