Yesterday on the 12th April Duncan Ratcliffe celebrated 5 years working at a Kitchen Assistant at Woodlands Hospice. He originally joined Woodlands as a volunteer.
Duncan was looking for a job, and while waiting to find one saw that we needed volunteers, so he volunteered to work helping look after our gardens. He later started helping in the kitchen too, and this became his main volunteering role.
Duncan had been volunteering for about 18 months when the Kitchen Assistant position became vacant. He did this job on a temporary basis, then applied for the position and got the job! He now works part time and says he really enjoys his job, commenting that the staff are all very friendly and good to work with.
