Pennington brothers go the extra mile for Woodlands

Andrew and Robert after completing their half marathon in Portugal

It was great to welcome Andrew and Robert Pennington to the Hospice recently when they brought in their sponsorship money from a half marathon they undertook in the intense heat of Portugal.

The two brothers, who took on the Lisbon half marathon course back in October, finished in 2 hours 10 minutes and 2.08 respectively, raising a fantastic £715.

Carole Riley, Individual Giving Manager at the Hospice, said: “The boys had decided to take on the challenge for Woodlands as their nan Norma, who is a sprightly 80+ years young, is a volunteer at the Hospice shop in Maghull.  It was definitely a family affair when the boys visited the hospice, where we welcomed them with some tasty cakes and treats, as they brought nan Norma, along with mum and dad Jacqui and Derek.

"It was so lovely to meet the two boys along with their family and get to know them a little better.  It was evident that their nan Norma, who is a real character, absolutely loves her volunteering at the Hospice shop and is very proud of her two grandsons and what they had achieved to help Woodlands."
