Catering
The Catering Team at Woodlands Hospice provides delicious home-cooked fresh food for inpatients, personalised to their individual dietary needs and preferences. There are four chefs in the team plus a kitchen assistant; we are also lucky enough to have a volunteer working in the kitchen from Monday to Friday.
Inpatients receive a visit each morning from one of the chefs who goes through the menu with them and takes their ‘order’ for the day. Special diets and small appetites are catered for and we always try to fulfil any requests for tasty personal favourites … sweet and savoury!
One patient recently commented: “I was surprised when a chef came into my room and started to ask me about my likes, dislikes … seemed genuinely interested and persuaded me to try a small meal - the food was delicious and I didn’t leave a scrap!”
In addition to providing meals for inpatients the team provides hot food for our on-site Café in ‘The Green’. It is open to all patients, relatives, visitors, and staff. The menu includes a wide selection of hot and cold and food, drinks, home-made cakes and pastries - all at very competitive prices.
The team also provides catering for Hospice Events, Education Sessions and other Groups who occasionally use our conference and meeting rooms.
We pride ourselves on our high standards of food preparation and presentation. In February 2017 we were once again awarded Five Stars for our catering facilities. This is the third time the Hospice has received this highest level rating which follows on from the previous award back in July 2015.. Read the story here
