Aintree Grand National 2025 – Get Involved and Support Woodlands Hospice!
Every year, the nation is gripped by the excitement and passion of the Grand National, and this year is no exception! Why not add to the fun by hosting your own sweepstake while raising money for your Woodlands Hospice?
Plus, we will need volunteers to help with bucket collections during the races, so if you're interested in giving your time, we’d love to have your support!

The Randox Grand National Festival returns to Aintree Racecourse on Thursday 03 - Saturday 05 April.
How to Get Involved
If you’ve never held your own sweepstake before, don’t worry! We’ve outlined how it works and how you can use it to have fun and support Woodlands Hospice.
Step 1:
Download Your Sweepstake Sheet
Step 2:
Decide on your stakes and how to split the pot. This is entirely up to you! For example, you might charge £1 per entry, or perhaps £5 for a go. Once you’ve set the stakes, you can determine the prize distribution.
EXAMPLE:
If you charge £3 per entry, you’ll have £120 in the pot. You could allocate £50 for the winner, £10 for second place, £5 for third place. This would leave £55 for Woodlands Hospice!
Step 3:
Round up your friends, family, or colleagues to take part. The Aintree Grand National has 40 runners, so try to get 40 participants for your sweepstake – the more, the merrier! If you have fewer than 40 people, no problem – just make sure everyone’s got at least one entry. And remember, people can buy more than one horse to increase their chances of winning!
Step 4:
When the runners' names are announced, grab a copy from your local paper or print them out. You can even write them on bits of scrap paper, cut them up, fold them, and put them in a hat. Draw a runner for each participant. If you’re hosting a Grand National party, let your guests draw their own runners! Use the sweepstake sheet to keep track of everyone’s horses.
Step 5:
Once the race is over, celebrate your winners and distribute the prizes! After that, please donate the remaining pot to Woodlands Hospice.

We Need Volunteers for Bucket Collections!
Alongside hosting your sweepstake, we also need volunteers to help with bucket collections during the Grand National races. If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch with Paula Parle at the details above. It’s a great way to get involved and make a real difference!
